District Distinguished Service Award

Bob Chambers is a geotechnical engineer with over 35 years of experience in practical design and environmental aspects of tailings, mine rock and water management for mining projects. Throughout his career he has been a strong advocate for dam safety and sustainable tailings management, and regularly shares his knowledge and experience.   

Chambers is vice president, technical, at Klohn Crippen Berger in Vancouver, BC. He formerly served as vice president of the mining environmental group for six years.   

He is an active member of CIM, having served on the CIM Council as District 6 Vice President, Membership Committee Chair, and Chair of the Vancouver branch. Heb received the CIM District 6 Distinguished Service Award in 2001. He has been involved in several other organizations including the Vancouver Geotechnical Society, the Mining Association of Canada’s Tailings Working Group and the Colorado School of Mines Industry Advisory Council.
