Larry Urbanoski graduated from the University Of Saskatchewan in 1970 with a degree in mining engineering. Over a period of 39 years he was continuously employed as a metallurgical engineer with a number of mining companies, including Noranda Inc, Brunswick Mining and Smelting, Falconbridge Limited and Xstrata Zinc Canada. In May 2009, he formed an independent consulting firm, LSU Consulting Inc, and continues to be involved in the mining industry.

His work experience has included management of concentrator operations at base metal mines and extends to assignments in a corporate role involving supervision of metallurgical development programs and project development activities. A strong focus was support of research programs internally but also in collaboration with universities and organizations such as CAMIRO.

Urbanoski has been granted a number of awards by the Canadian Mineral Processors, namely, Mineral Processor Of The Year, the Ray McDonald Volunteer Award and CMP Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to the mineral processing industry.
