16 July 2026
Researchers, industry practitioners, and technology providers – please submit your original work for consideration in the technical program.
Submission Deadline: The deadline for abstract submissions is July 31, 2026.
APCOM 2027 will be held in Montreal, Quebec, from May 2–5, 2027, co-located with the CIM CONNECT Convention and Expo, the flagship event of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).
Mining operations face growing pressure to make faster, more reliable decisions across increasingly complex systems. The APCOM technical program will explore how computational methods, operations research and data-driven intelligence can improve planning and performance across the mining value chain.
Present your research at APCOM for an opportunity to test ideas and discuss Canadian mining best practices with an international network of industry experts.
Technical Program Themes
Your research should address one or more of the core thematic areas driving innovation and decision-making in modern mining operations:
- Orebody Modelling: Advanced resource estimation, geostatistics, AI in mining exploration, and geological uncertainty management.
- Sustainable Practices: Decarbonization analytics, sustainable extraction techniques, tailings and waste risk management, water and energy optimization, and environmental sensing.
- Mine Planning and Design: Strategic and tactical scheduling, stochastic planning, cut-off policies, and geometallurgical integration.
- Mine Operations: Digital twins, equipment dispatch, operational decision support, cybersecurity (OT/IT convergence), and human-machine teaming.
- Investment and Risk Management: Project evaluation under uncertainty, portfolio optimization, and ESG risk metrics.
Submission and Review Timeline
APCOM 2027 operates on an abstract-first submission process. Authors are required to submit an initial summary of their work prior to developing a full technical paper.
- Abstract Submission (Deadline: July 31, 2026)
Submit a 300-word abstract via the online XCD portal outlining the problem, context, methodology, key findings, and expected industry impact. - Author Notification (August 30, 2026)
The reviewing committee will evaluate submissions, notify authors of acceptance, and provide official technical paper formatting guidelines. - Draft Paper Submission (October 30, 2026)
Authors of accepted abstracts must submit a draft of their technical paper to initiate the peer-review process. - Final Paper & Presenter Registration (March 1, 2027)
Submit the final, revised paper and complete the presenter registration to ensure that you are included in the official conference proceedings and technical schedule.
