History

Since 2010, Bedford has proudly partnered with the Canadian Institute of Mining for the CIM–Bedford Canadian Young Mining Leaders Awards. 

Purpose

The CIM–Bedford Canadian Young Mining Leaders Awards encourages and accelerates the development of leadership in Canadian mining by recognizing outstanding achievement and potential of young Canadian mining leaders.

Criteria

  1. Their performance in terms of executing and achieving goals and objectives.
  2. How they engage others at different levels of the organization to help them feel valued and respected members of the company.
  3. Their expertise in team-building and improving team performance.
  4. Their sensitivity to social responsibility.          

Other

Nominees must be either Canadian citizens or landed immigrants 39 years of age or younger working for any mining company, engineering/consulting firm, contractor or supplier in the industry anywhere in the world.

There can be multiple recipients of this award every year. This award is solely for individual nominations (no teams).

2025

Hannah Lang

Hannah Lang is the manager of digital solutions at MineSense Technologies and holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from Cornell University and a Master of Science in economic geology from Queen’s University. She draws on her geological background and orebody knowledge to help MineSense unlock the value of real-time sensor-based data analytics, enabling mining operations to increase profitability and reduce their environmental footprint through mine-to-mill optimization. As a leader in digital innovation, Hannah has driven key projects, including the development of machine learning algorithms to predict rock characteristics and the launch of MineSense’s client-facing data tracking and visualization tools. Her contributions culminated in the creation of a portfolio of digital products, showcasing her ability to lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration, and drive technological advancement. 

2025

Annabelle Rioux

Annabelle Rioux graduated from the School of Management Sciences at the University of Quebec in Montreal in 2011. She began her career at Agnico Eagle's Meadowbank mine in Nunavut, then worked as a human resources advisor at the Goldex and Laronde mining sites. In 2017, she joined Eldorado Gold Quebec to participate in the startup of the Lamaque Complex, where she was promoted to Director of Human Resources in 2024. 

Annabelle has also been active in the Val-d'Or community, notably as a member of the executive committee of ICM Val-d'Or for nine years, including three years as president. She was president of the Kiwanis-Lemieux Club in 2019. Annabelle embodies the values of leadership, commitment, and dedication, making her an inspiring figure in the mining industry and within her local community.
