WINNER OF THE MEL BARTLEY OUTSTANDING BRANCH AWARD IN 2003

The CIM Edmonton Branch proudly supports a dynamic community of professionals, students, and stakeholders across the mining and minerals industries in Alberta’s capital region.

After a successful relaunch in 2024 following four years of dormancy, the branch has quickly re-established itself as a hub for knowledge-sharing, networking, and professional/academic development.

Our executive team is comprised of industry leaders and academics, with strong representation from mining companies, service providers, and the University of Alberta. This balance ensures our programming remains relevant and inclusive, addressing the evolving interests and challenges across the sector.

2024–2025 Highlights:

• Rebuilt active membership from 26 to over 90 members in one year
• Hosted a broad range of networking events featuring key topics including reclamation, energy transition, autonomous systems, gold and uranium markets, and career nights
• Strengthened ties with academia, including partnerships with the local universities and educational institutions in engineering and geosciences
• Expanded the outreach to the mining industry base in the Edmonton region including vendors and other industry organizations
• Launched student liaison roles and hosted campus-based events to engage the next generation of mining professionals
• Established new outreach platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Eventbrite, to promote events and simplify engagement

We welcome anyone interested in the natural resource and mining industry to attend our monthly networking events, student nights, and social events. Our programming fosters cross-disciplinary dialogue and provides a welcoming space to connect with industry experts and students alike.

By being a part of CIM, I’ve grown this network that is so much greater than I ever had, had I just stuck to being an engineer at a mining operation.
