Dr. Mohammad Babaei is the digital mining innovation lead in the Digital Operations group at Teck Resources Ltd.  He has worked in open pit mines, with consulting companies and universities. At Teck Resources he provides guidance and support to digital innovation across the enterprise. He works with Teck’s engineering and maintenance departments, operations, and continuous improvement groups. As a leader in Teck Digital Systems, he develops and deploys digital innovations that improve safety, sustainability and productivity. Since he joined Teck Resources, Dr. Babaei has worked on many innovative projects and pioneered different groundbreaking digital technologies including the application of machine learning in mining and maintenance and the development of a unique real-time diggability solution. 

Dr. Babaei graduated with a PhD degree in mining engineering from the University of British Columbia. He has published several scientific papers and received numerous awards. He was also highlighted by CIM Magazine in their 2017 Names to Know feature as “The Millennial”.
