(Biography from 2002)

Arthur Gordon Slade is a graduate of McGill University (1951). He retired from Falconbridge Ltd. after 32 years of service, having served in operation areas in capacities of increasing responsibility from the trenches to the desk of the vice-president. Mr. Slade continues to participate on the boards of several mining corporations and currently provides management consulting services to the mining industry.

He has served the local community on the boards of many institutions such as Laurentian University, Cambrian College, Sudbury United Way (Chair), and Sudbury Community Adjustment Project (Chair), and continues as an active volunteer on several charitable organizations and local committees. Of note, his dedicated efforts resulted in the development and erection of the Sudbury Mining Heritage Sculpture, which is centrally located in Bell Park in the City of Sudbury.

He has also been a leader in the CIM (Sudbury Branch Chair, Councillor and Vice-President for District 3), and is a recipient of the CIM Fellowship Award (1997).
