We will only use your Personal Data with your consent as the main basis for processing unless we are otherwise permitted or required to use it under applicable law.   • Directly from you: You may be asked to provide your personal information anytime you contact CIM or use the Services, and we may share this information and use it consistent with this Privacy Policy. We may also combine it with other information to provide and improve our products, services, content, and advertising, provided we have obtained your opt-in consent where required by applicable law. You are not required to provide the Personal Information that we request, but if you choose not to do so, in many cases, we will not be able to provide you with our products or services or respond to any queries you may have. 7. How do we keep your information secure?

We have implemented reasonable measures to protect the personal information we manage; however, no security system can eliminate the risk of unauthorized access or use. US State Privacy Rights

Depending on your U.S. state of residence, you may have certain rights regarding your Personal Information, including:

  • Right to Know: You may have the right to know what Personal Information we have collected about you, including the categories of Personal Information, the categories of sources from which the Personal Information is collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing Personal Information, the categories of third parties to whom we disclose Personal Information and the specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you. Please note that we may not be required to respond to your requests “to know” or access specific pieces of Personal Information more than twice in any 12 months.
  • Right to Data Portability: You may have the right to access your information in a portable format.
  • Right to Correct: You may have the right to correct inaccurate Personal Information that we may maintain about you, subject to appropriate verification.
  • Right to Delete: You may have the right to request that we delete any Personal Information that we have collected from or about you. Note that there are some reasons we will not be able to fully address your request, such as if we need to complete a transaction for you, to detect and protect against fraudulent and illegal activity, to exercise our rights, for our internal purposes, or to comply with a legal obligation.
  • Right to Opt-Out of the Sale or Sharing of Personal Information: You also may request to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your Personal Information to third parties for their commercial use. This means that, if you opt-out, going forward, we will not share your Personal Information with such third parties to use for their purposes unless you later direct us to do so. In some jurisdictions, this is referred to as the right to opt out of the processing of your Personal Information for purposes of “targeted advertising.”

We will need to verify your identity before processing your request, which may involve asking you a series of questions about your previous interactions with us. Your privacy is important to us, and we will not discriminate against you in response to your exercise of your privacy rights.

Agent Requests: Only you or someone legally authorized can submit requests regarding your Personal Information. You may also make requests for your minor child. If you authorize an agent, they must prove their authorization, and we may verify this with you directly. Agents can only use Personal Information to fulfill requests, verify identity, or prevent fraud.

Right to Appeal: Depending on your state, you may appeal our decision regarding your privacy rights request by contacting us at privacy@cim.org.

10. Failure to provide information

If CIM asks for information and you do not wish to give it to us, or if you wish to withdraw consent to the use of your information, CIM will explain the consequences based on the specific information concerned, including whether it is a legal or contractual requirement that we use such data. However, if CIM cannot collect the necessary information from you, it may make it difficult or impossible for us to provide our services to you. If you have any queries concerning the consequences of not providing information or withdrawing your consent, please contact us at privacy@cim.org with the subject header “Withdrawing Consent”.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and any other websites under the cim.org domain name. If the changes we make are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice, when required by applicable laws. By continuing to use our Service after the modified version of the Privacy Policy has been posted or you have been informed of such an update, you are acknowledging that you have read the changes to our Privacy Policy.

The “effective date” at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when it was last updated.
