Future Mining Forum Edmonton: October 18-19

GMSG to Host Edmonton Forum, Engage Global Mining Collaboration in Canada
CIM supports event through network of Canadian professionals

Global Mining Standards and Guidelines Group (GMSG) is bringing global mining automation and innovation priorities to Canada via a two-day interactive forum. CIM is the official partner of this event, which will be held at the University of Alberta in Edmonton on October 18-19, 2017.

“These forums are a key part of our strategy to extend our global outreach and educate the mining industry on the standards and guidelines available for a more efficient and sustainable future,” says Heather Ednie, Managing Director, GMSG. “The more the industry collaborates, the more we can disrupt the old ways of thinking about mining.”

Edmonton Forum participants will discuss key issues for the global mining community within the context of Canada’s mining industry and discover opportunities for their companies to grow and innovate. This event is a chance to discover what the industry’s collective vision of future mining looks like. CIM is supporting the event through the organization’s wide network of Canadian professionals, and will be a key speaker as well.

Critical topics at this event include autonomous mining, interoperability, the “connected” mine, and maintenance and equipment reliability. Interactive breakout sessions will include discussions on barriers in interoperability, and the opportunities of digitization.

The following companies are confirmed presenters:

  • ABB
  • ARANZGeo
  • Gibraltar Mine
  • Imperial Oil
  • Peck Tech
  • Syncrude
  • Teck

GMSG’s Future Mining Forums were developed to foster wide collaboration between industry members, allowing participants to share their expertise with the global mining community and discover new pathways to sustainability and cost-efficiency.
