
CIM Fellowship
Shannon Campbell has been active within the mining industry for 23 years with both open pit and underground operations spanning technical, supervisory and management roles. He graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University and the Technical University of Nova Scotia with a Bachelor of Mining Engineering.
Campbell started his working career in Labrador as a supervisor and mine engineer at the Iron Ore Company of Canada. From there, mining has taken him to seven projects and operations in Kentucky, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Northern Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Campbell has been active in the CIM, either at the branch level or national, since starting his mining career. He has been honoured to have the opportunity to restart several CIM branches and to serve on several CIM committees and societies. He was operational manager of Kidd mine in 2013 when they were awarded the national John T Ryan award and won Ontario’s Provincial Mine Rescue competition.
