
CIM Fellowship
Mike Collins received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from McMaster University in 1984. Following a visiting fellowship at the National Research Council in Ottawa, he joined Sherritt Gordon Mines Ltd. in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, in 1985, becoming manager of the Sherritt Research group in 1997. He is currently Director, Research with Sherritt Technologies. Author of more than 75 technical publications and holder of eight patents, Collins is a former chair of the Hydrometallurgy Section of MetSoc of CIM and has been on the organizing committees of numerous MetSoc conferences and symposia, including acting as Co-chair of Pressure Hydrometallurgy 2004, Technical Chair of Cu2007, Co-Chair of Zn&Pb Metallurgy 2008, and Chair of Pressure Hydrometallurgy 2012. He received the Sherritt Hydrometallurgy Award in 2005.
