Ali Madiseh is Canada Research Chair in Advanced Mine Energy Systems and Assistant Professor at the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering of the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is also a board member of the Canadian Association of Energy Economics (CAEE). His research focuses on energy systems used in mining and petroleum industries and includes the development of novel solutions for improving energy efficiency, decarbonization and replacing fossil fuels with renewable energies.

Prior to joining UBC, Madiseh did his PhD at the mechanical engineering department of McGill University. He has published more than 45 journal papers in various journals including the Journal of Energy, Applied Energy Journal, Renewable Energy Journal, Applied Thermal Engineering Journal, Heat Transfer Engineering Journal, Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, and the International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences.
