Apply for the MiEX Program
CIM is proud to support MiEX – the Mining Industry Experience Program, a paid, two-week immersive learning program designed to introduce first-year STEM students to the mining industry, its role in modern society, and the wide range of career paths it offers.
Running from May 4 to 15, 2026, MiEX will have hubs in three Canadian cities: Vancouver, Saskatoon, and Montreal.
The program is aimed at industry-curious first-year post-secondary students studying science, technology, engineering, or math. Anyone interested in exploring opportunities within the mining sector is welcome to apply.
Why MiEX Matters
Mining powers the modern world — from tech to transportation. The Mining Industry Experience Program (MiEX) gives you insights that can shape decisions about your future.
The program offers experiential insight and access to industry professionals that help students make informed decisions about their futures.
The Experience

- Participants travel, visit operational sites, and see firsthand how critical minerals and metals are produced and used.
- Students engage with industry professionals from leading companies such as Agnico Eagle, Cameco, Newmont, Rio Tinto, and Teck, building networks that can shape their academic and career pathways.
The Structure
Week 1: At your chosen hub (Vancouver, Saskatoon, or Montreal) you will explore industry values, strategies, and leading practices through interactive sessions.
Week 2: Spend up to four days on-site, learning directly from experts and experiencing the mining value chain in action.
Applications are open until January 23.
