Canadian Institute of Mining Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) Announces the 2025 CIM Award Winners
Montreal, QC: Hundreds from the mining, minerals and metals industry donned their finest and came out last night to see more than 70 individuals and organizations accept their prestigious CIM Awards.
This year saw a record-breaking number of nominations. CIM is proud to showcase the achievements of this highly engaged and motivated minerals, metals, and energy industry, and its commitment to excellence and recognition.
The Career Excellence Awards are highly competitive and act as a benchmark of achievement in our industry. Recipients are often pioneers and leaders who epitomize success and innovation within their respective fields.
This year’s recipients:
Medal for Meritorious Contributions to Mining - Jack Zhang, Associate Vice-President of Strategic Technology at Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) and adjunct professor at University of Saskatchewan.
Selwyn Blaylock Canadian Mining Excellence Award – Roussos Dimitrakopoulos, professor in the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at McGill University.
CIM Distinguished Service Medal – Richard Arnold McIvor, president of McIvor Engineering and Maintenance Services Inc.

The CIM Awards are presented at the Awards Gala sponsored by Caterpillar and its Canadian dealers, on Monday, May 5, 2025, during the CIM CONNECT Convention + Expo at the Montréal Convention Centre.
