Medal for Bravery

This medal, founded in 1933 by Everett Alfred Collins, a Past President of the Institute, donor of the medals and initial Chairman of the Medal for Bravery Committee, has become established as the Victoria Cross of the Institute. It recognizes great valour displayed by men of the minerals industries who knowingly risk their lives in attempting to rescue a fellow worker. Each recipient of the medal also receives an embossed citation of his heroic conduct.
