The CIM Student Chapters are pivotal in offering students the chance to refine their networking abilities and gain essential knowledge outside of the classroom to achieve their career aspirations. These Chapters play a crucial role in sustaining a pipeline of professionals for the industry's future.

Award Description:

The CIM Outstanding Student Chapter Award is granted annually to the Chapter that demonstrates the most significant progress towards achieving the aims and objectives of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).

Criteria for the Award:
  • Report Submission: Submit a detailed report covering Chapter activities and awards (up to a 1000 words).

  • Annual Planning: Develop and execute an annual Work Plan and budget.

  • Local Engagement: Actively participate in local CIM branch and district activities, such as luncheons.

  • Membership Maintenance: Maintain CIM National student membership within the Chapter at 80% or higher.

  • Guest Speakers Program: Organize events with special guest speakers, including CIM Distinguished Lecturers.

  • Mentorship Participation: Active involvement in the CIM Mentorship Program.

  • Interdisciplinary Activities: Collaborate with other departments and participate in intercollegiate events such as the "Mining Games."

  • Community and Industry Engagement: Participate in activities that meet the needs of the local industry and communities.

 

Award Presentation: The award is presented no more than once per year.
