In recognition of an excellent paper entitled Structure, Stratigraphy, U-Pb Geochronology and Alteration Characteristics of Gold Mineralization at the Detour Lake Gold Deposit, Ontario, Canada

Jim L. Oliver received his B.Sc. from University of British Columbia in 1982, his M.Sc. from Queen’s University in 1985, and his Ph.D. from Queen’s University in 1996, all in geology or geophysics. He has more than 30 years of experience specializing in mineral deposit evaluations of early to advanced stage mineral occurrences.

Oliver has applied his expertise in 25 countries, working on or examining more than 400 mineral deposits or occurrences. He has acted as a geological consultant to major mining companies, to junior exploration groups, and to government geological surveys. He is a dedicated, energetic mineral explorer and a pragmatic field geologist. He continues to apply leading-edge geoscience principles and concepts to a wide variety of mineral deposit types and exploration challenges.

Oliver is currently the principle of Oliver Geoscience International Ltd. and the Chief Geoscientist for Colorado Resources Inc.
