CIM Vancouver Branch - June Afternoon session
The CIM Vancouver Branch is pleased to invite you to our June Afternoon session
Keynote Speaker: Brent Hilscher, Principal Engineer – Sacré-Davey Engineering
Title: Project Revitalization by Ore Sorting
Date: June 16th, 2016
Location: Fairmont Waterfront Hotel
Reception Start Time: 3:00pm
Presentation Start Time: ~3:45pm
The mining industry has been struggling with lower metal prices and increasing costs. In addition, the average deposit grade has been steadily decreasing. Ore Sorting presents the opportunity for mining companies to create a step-change in project value.
This presentation will outline how ore sorting is being applied to improve mill feed grades and project economics. Results from several projects are reviewed including base and precious metal projects, as well as underground and open pits. Impact on project economics for greenfield and brownfield projects will be discussed. Impact on CAPEX and OPEX as well as power and water consumption will be also covered.
Brent Hilscher has over 15 years’ experience in mine operation and engineering roles. Brent leads the Sacré-Davey Ore-Sorting and Mining team, which has tripled in size since 2015.
Over his career Brent has patented and developed new technologies, led major projects, and helped advance the industry. His mining clients have included Barrick, Teck, Glencore, Goldcorp, NASA and The World Bank. He has served as on the Executive Committees for both the CIM and CMP. In 2013, Brent was awarded Bill Moore Award for his contributions to the mining industry.
