Abstract Cadmium and other 'minor' metals in Canada tend to remain inconspicuous given the prominence of the country's massive production of other minerals. This same reality is reflected in the accuracy and deficiency of quantitative data concerning the sources of supply and demand for these metals. It is the intent of this paper to identify the nature of some of these difficulties and to reconstruct a more accurate description of Canada's production and consumption of cadmium, based on the results of recent surveys undertaken by the Mineral Policy Sector of Energy, Mines and Resources Canada and Noranda Sales Corporation Ltd.
Keywords: Mineral economics, Cadmium, Zinc concentrate, Electroplating, Corrosion protection, Alloys, Markets.
