Some Recent Innovations in Canadian Milling Practice

CIM Bulletin1939
Great advances have been made in rubber-lined pumps for the pumping of mill pulps. The Canadian Allis Chalmers alone report 300 such pumps put into service during the past four years. Pumps in which both the casing and the impeller are rubber covered have proved most economical in handling the usual run of mill pulps, effecting large savings in power, maintenance, and shutdown costs. For the handling of pulps containing comparatively large, sharper edged /articles, rubberlined casings with hard iron impellers have been developed by the pumping departments of Hollinger and Noranda.
