Basic Brick in Canada

CIM Bulletin1936
THERE are, broadly speaking, three classes of refractories: acid, basic, and neutral. Fireclay, diaspore, silica, and the sillimanite group of minerals are included in the acid class, which for the most part are not very resistant to basic slags. The neutral class includes chrome, graphite, and silicon carbide, while most important in the basic class are magnesite and dolomite.
