Process Design and Change Management for Successful Deployment of Technology in Mining
The implementation of complex technologies in mining calls for an integrated approach with equal consideration to people, process, and technology. Adequate preparation for successful deployment implies a deliberate effort to prepare the business for the change that will inevitably result from the introduction of the technology. In the case of large scale technological change brought about through the implementation of semi-autonomous or autonomous operations, the impact on the business and its people is significant. This paper describes a structured framework which specifically addresses the need to re-design business processes as well as to manage change throughout the organization.
