Evolution of Maintenance Practices

Abstract Maintenance expenses represent 25% to 30% of the operating costs. The maintenance personnel represent over 30 % of the total workforce (including electrical, mechanical and for mobile, fixe and concentrator’s equipments). Considering these numbers, in addition to capital costs and indirect costs such as energy (electricity, fuel, gas, etc.), it is worthwhile to pay attention to how we do things in order to protect such investment, and every task done to understand the impact of our practices, as an investment in the reliability of our operation.

In this presentation we will look at the practices and see how organizations strive for continuous improvement and why. We will review Pro-active vs Re-active and discuss best maintenance practices.
