Making Foreign Workers Part of your Workforce

CIM Vancouver 2006
Abstract There are great benefits for Canadian employers who bring in skilled foreign Journeyman and Foreman level workers to work on construction and mining projects. Skilled foreign workers not only help fill skills gaps, but can also help train apprentice level Canadian workers. Foreign workers also provide other unique benefits to both union and open shop companies.

There are specific programs designed to help add foreign workers to Canadian operations and these programs are constantly evolving. Girodo & Associates has been successful in helping Canadian employers navigate through Federal and Provincial Government policies, programs and bureaucracy to ensure that skills requirements are met.

This session will provide information about recruiting internationally and vetting foreign workers, dealing with Government, and getting buy-in from both open shop and union companies.
