An Update of the Geology Model of A154N and A154S Kimberlites After the First 3 Years of Mining

CIM Vancouver 2006
Abstract Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. commenced mining within the first of three planned open pits in November of 2002. After three years, the upper 90 metres of the A154S kimberlite and upper 60 metres of the A154N kimberlite have been removed. Geological information from exploration, advanced exploration and feasibility studies has been confirmed or updated by mapping, sampling and detailed drilling during production. The boundaries and nature of kimberlite units, volume and size of country rock xenoliths, specific gravity, and the actual shape and volume of the kimberlites have all produced both expected and unexpected affects on plant and mining performance.
