Inmet’s TSM Implementation and Performance:The View from a Mid-Tier Company

Abstract As a mid-tier company that has embraced TSM, Inmet believes its experience may interest similar companies that have limited human resources and that are concerned about how TSM will affect their business. Inmet continues to integrate TSM into corporate management systems at all operations as a risk management tool. In reporting against the four TSM performance areas in 2004, Inmet decided to provide facility-specific evaluations of our international operations and our closed properties under active management as well. We did this for a number of reasons, but primarily to drive our improvement of operational performance and to show our commitment to TSM. Our experience to-date is that TSM is broadly supported by our operations management because the indicators are practical, the evaluation criteria are clear and improvement strategies are readily identifiable.
