Abstract Effective crisis communications management is vital to maintaining corporate reputation, shareholder interests and a company’s social license to operate. The paper will describe the benefits of implementing a crisis management system, through case examples, describe lessons learned from the crisis and improvements subsequently adopted. Key crisis communications tools and tactics will be presented. A discussion of the resources and skills required to adhere to The Mining Association of Canada’s crisis communications indicators will conclude the presentation.
