West African mining companies look to Canadian suppliers

In a continued effort to strengthen ties between Canada and West Africa, roughly 75 delegates from Guinea, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and the Côte d’Ivoire gathered in Vancouver for this year’s CIM Convention. The representatives, made up mainly of local businesspeople, looked to identify Canadian suppliers to integrate into their supply chain. Read More

Q&A: The Swan Song

On her way to the closing luncheon Wednesday, Patty Moore was reflective about the CIM 2014 Convention, which from preliminary numbers broke records. As this year’s general chair, she was instrumental in developing an event tailored to the theme, Mining 4 Everyone, which examined how mining could make its workforce more representative of the general population. Moore, Tetra Tech’s business development director, thanked the many volunteers and national staff that had a hand in organizing the event. “This is my last hurrah,” she said. “I’m retiring next week, so it’s my swan song.” Read More
