Professional Development Seminar Series


CIM is co-sponsoring the the 2012 Professional Development Seminar Series, which focuses on strategic risk quantification and management for ore reserves and mine planning, for professionals in the mining industry. Three courses are being offered in September, and are part of McGill University’s Professional Development Program (PDP), which is an extensive library of seminars, workshops and courses designed for people working in exploration, mining, mineral processing, metallurgy and related industries. The courses are:

  • An introduction to cutoff grade: theory and practice in open pit and underground mines, September 5-7
  • Geostatistical mineral resource/ore reserve estimation and meeting the new regulatory environment: step by step from sampling to grade control, September 10-14
  • Quantitative mineral resource assessments: an integrated approach to planning for exploration risk reduction, September 24-26

McGill University, SME (U.S.), AusIMM (Australia) and SAIMM (South Africa) are also co-sponsors.
