The eyes of the world will be focused on Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2010 as it hosts the Winter Olympics. Just a few months later, CIM will bring its own world-class event to this spectacular city — the CIM Conference and Exhibition 2010, to be held May 9 – 12.

This year’s venue — the breath-taking new Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre — will offer conference delegates and exhibitors alike an impressive experience of Olympic proportions! Located near the city’s finest hotels and restaurants, this state-of-the-art, eco-friendly venue features a living roof and floor-to-ceiling glass walls overlooking Vancouver’s famous harbour and the rugged North Shore Mountains.

Mining — Your Foundation for a Better World

The theme of the CIM Conference and Exhibition 2010, Mining — Your Foundation for a Better World, reflects the key role that mining plays in the social and technical development of communities and societies worldwide. Building on the theme, the technical program will focus on the leading technological, environmental and social issues facing our industry today. A special emphasis on Latin America has been incorporated into this year’s program, reflecting the rapid growth of mining in that region and its strong mining-industry ties with North America.

A highlight of the conference will be the Plenary Session, moderated by Rex Murphy, one of Canada’s foremost journalists. This year’s theme — First Contact — emphasizes the importance of building strong community relations and demonstrating social responsibility at the onset of any industrial undertaking.

Not to be missed is the Mining in Society show featuring a series of interactive displays intended to educate attendees about mining in an entertaining and engaging way. The show is open to the public and admission is free.

Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity. Attend the CIM Conference and Exhibition 2010 in Vancouver. Its more than just mining!
