Chemists and Chemical Engineers

Chemists work with complex equipment in the laboratories at mine sites, analysing the chemical properties of waste water, tailings, and concentrate and determining effective solutions to chemical problems and means to increase productivity through more effective control. Chemical engineers work to design systems to put into practice the solutions and work at optimizing the processes in mineral processing plants focusing on efficiency, throughput and recovery, as well as seeking more environmental methods for ore extraction.
