Reporting to the Mill Superintendent, the Mill General Foreman is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing milling functions and will supervise milling crews, with the goal of ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the Langlois mill.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have a minimum of ten years of progressive experience in a milling environment including five years in a supervisory capacity. A strong emphasis on health and safety procedures and practices is essential, as is computer proficiency (Microsoft Office), and English/French bilingualism.

Position: Scheduling and Projects Coordinator, Albian Sands Energy
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Tailings & Geotechnical Engineering Team Lead the Scheduling and Projects Coordinator is a leader and mentor to the Tailings and Geotechnical Engineering (TGE) Team tailings planners, field and project engineers and technicians assigned to them while also providing direction and managing major tailings and geotechnical related projects. Along with being in charge of all tailings scheduling and tailings and geotechnical engineering projects, this job’s principle accountable include delivering achievable 2yr and 10yr integrated tailings management plans and the coordination of all tailings and geotechnical projects for the team including field engineering and surveying.
Key Challenges:
- Perform all duties in a safe manner with respect to the environment, in compliance with Albian policy.
- Must participate in incident investigations within the position’s area of responsibility.
- Provide quality leadership and mentoring to direct reports
- Management of related tailings and geotechnical contractors
- Owner and developer of executable 2yr and 10yr integrated tailings plans
- Perform office and site based assessments of new tailings and geotechnical related projects
- Timely and on budget, including cost forecasting and tracking, execution of projects

Position: Process Control Engineer, Albian Sands Energy, Jackpine Mine.
Job Purpose:
Reporting to Team Leader, the Mine Engineer is accountable for providing technical support to Operations and Maintenance by Trouble Shooting and Follow-Up to the Key Performance Indicators of each Plant, typically to solve operational problems, design or redesign facilities, reduce operating costs and / or optimize the use of assets which are required to meet site and corporate objectives, by developing, improving and modifying the existing and / or new process control schemes, fine tuning of the instrumentation associated to control loops, creating advanced control strategies or feed forward prediction tools and control, etc.
Key Challenges:
- Everyone home safely – always. Ensure strict adherence to ASE and OH&S safety, health and environmental regulations, policies and procedures.
- Maximum use of the Control Loops in Automatic position. Monthly reports, daily reporting to Operation regarding the performance of the Control Loops, Instrumentation response time, offsets, etc. Also fine-tuning and checking of all instrumentation K (gain), DT (derivative), IT (integration) constants/variables.
- By Data, trends and Lab results, mathematical correlations for feed forward control; advanced control schemes with operating window variables will be implemented for reduction of costs, improvement of Unit performance, etc.
- Creation of “intelligent” system for operation advises by trending KPI’s.
- Prepare a monthly report for all data, trends, correlations and findings.
- Preparation of the Documents & Protocol for testing of chemical additives, restriction diagrams of the Unit, performance tests at different throughput levels & feedstock qualities, as well as preparation of the report or Presentation of the tests.
- Coordinate equipment inspections, condition monitoring, and performance improvement activities to optimize equipment availability, prevent loss of containment, minimize operational upsets/shutdowns and control costs.
- Assist with Recruitment, training and development of new technical staff.
- Revision and Comments on all developments from the Debottlenecking Project and upgrade of the Honeywell and MRM - Foxboro I/A, Simulators, etc.

Position: Environmental Specialist -GIS, Albian Sands Energy, Muskeg River Mine
Key Challenges:
- Maintain spatial databases and files that are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible. This includes updating databases with newly acquired data through tabular loading, graphical digitization, or computation and insuring all data has proper metadata. It also includes maintaining Albian’s GIS Infrastructure including hardware, software, and services and integrating resources provided by SCAN, EPW and Shell Global Geomatics. Align with Shell Geo-Information Strategy.
- Analyze spatial data and relationships to glean useful information using ArcGIS Desktop suite. This includes gridding and contouring; spatial relations between features; statistical trend analyses; temporal analysis, and correlations between data sets. Investigate areas where remotes sensing data can be leveraged to benefit the business.
- Promote and share the power and possibilities of GIS technologies with peers and other discipline teams. Insure that proper tool for the job is utilized. Explore new opportunities to leverage GIS and Albian’s data assets.
- Establish and streamline standard processes and workflows to insure repeatability and efficiency. Ensure these workflows are well documented and shared as best practices with other teams.
- Ensure that coordinate data integrity and geodetic rigor is not compromised during any spatial data processes.
- Present the data and the results of the analyses in the form of maps, charts, or graphs which are cartographically complete, correct, clear, and concise. This includes preparation of spatial and temporal maps for all reports, submissions and presentations.
- Manipulate data so that it may be used by other applications, or utilize other applications to manipulate data so that it may be used within GIS. Emphasis is on maintaining centralized data stores and services, improving delivery, and maximizing data sharing and interoperability between applications.

Position: Sr. Mine Reclamation/Closure Engineer, Albian Sands Energy, Muskeg River Mine and the Jackpine Mine Technical Services
Job Purpose:
The objective of the Sr. Mine Reclamation/Closure Engineer will be to develop reclamation and closure plans for the Muskeg River Mine and the Jackpine Mine. As well the incumbent will represent Albian on several Regional Committees and working groups.
Key Challenges:
- Prepare Annual Reports on reclamation and closure for various provincial agencies. (10%)
- Prepare and revise Closure plans as required. (20%)
- Prepare security bond calculation and work on Government task force to revise. (5%)
- Work with stakeholders to review and incorporate suggestions into the reclamation and closure plans. (20%)
- Develop scopes of work for reclamation pre-stripping, stockpiling, and reclamation activities (10%)
- Participate in multi-stakeholder committees and working groups regarding TEK, Landscape and design, geo-technical and other reclamation and closure related topics. (25%)
- Work with Albian’s long and short range planning group and field engineers to review dump designs and make sure that structures are being built to design standards. (10%)
- The biggest challenge is designing to ever changing standards. Secondly, the person in this position will need to incorporate the requirements of many stakeholders. It will be difficult to please everyone and incorporate all their ideas.

Job Knowledge / Qualifications, Skills, Experience, Competencies:
- The incumbent must have a B.Sc. degree in Geotechnical or Mining Engineering. The incumbent also needs to have 5-8 years operational experience at a mine. It would be helpful to have experience building and/or reclaiming tailings ponds and waste rock dumps as they will be the first features to be reclaimed.
- Prepare reclamation and closure plans for presentation to each of our First Nation stakeholders. Ft. McKay is the main stakeholder and has a group of 8 elders that meet regularly with Albian to review our reclamation plans and our closure plans. Meeting are to be at least 3 times per year. One of these meetings includes representatives from AENV and SRD.
- Participate on several multi-stakeholder committees. Participation on these committees is not optional as they form part of our approval conditions. Albian takes this e responsibility seriously and has been an active participation all of the committees we sit on. It is important that Albian be represented here as the decisions reached at these committees are applied to our approvals. The conditions that exist at the Muskeg River and Jackpine mines are quite different than those at the Suncor and Syncrude sites and we need to make sure that our issues are addressed. Many of these discussions are technical in nature and therefore a mining engineer should represent Albian at the following committees:
a. RWG Landscape Design subgroup
b. RWG Reclamation Certification subgroup
c. RWG End Pit Lake subgroup
- A closure planner can work with long term planners determine the costs of various options being considered.
- This position will develop annual reclamation plans which will be used to develop budgets and work plans.
Working conditions:
The job will involve some out door work (<5%). Most of the job is spent planning and working with a variety of stake holders, such as, government, aboriginal groups and within Albian. Deadlines will need to be met and different objectives will need to be balanced which can amount to a little stress.

Job Purpose:
Survey control for the mine site, tailings and plant areas including field execution of surface and utility (undergrounds) survey layouts and as-builts to meet the objectives of the Jackpine Mine Business Unit Plan.

The Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP) is a joint venture among Shell Canada Limited (60 per cent), Chevron Canada Limited (20%) and Marathon Oil Sands L.P (20%). Position: Safeguarding Engineer, Albian Sands Energy, Jackpine Mine.
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Team Lead, Process Engineering, the Safeguarding Engineer is responsible to provide leadership and technical support to all the Jackpine Process Units in the specialty of Safeguarding support to the operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, process optimization, implementation of changes to ensure integrity and improve reliability. Also the Safeguarding Engineer is responsible for updating, improving, trending the operating variables associated with the safeguarding devices, as well as troubleshooting, promoting and following up testing of each process to validate the proper operation and capacity of these devices.

Postion: Turnaround Planner
- Under the direction of the Turnaround Planning Lead the Turnaround Planner is responsible for all planning functions of the approved turnaround scope items for the assigned units.
- Assist in the development of the TA work scope and be the owner of the TA scope document.
- Work with Operations, Maintenance, and Contractors to build efficient detailed plans to complete the individual packages for the scope items.
- Develop detailed work plans with all the necessary information to forecast cost and workforce requirements, and allow for efficient scheduling of the work.
- Actively participate in the TA GAME process.
- Work with the TA Scheduler to build an integrated site schedule for all planned work.
