HIGH-INTENSITY magnetic separation as now practised in the commercial treatment of a large variety of industrial minerals is a comparatively recent development, having had its practical beginning about ten years ago when it became necessary to devise more effective methods for the purification of the electric furnace abrasives and refractories- silicon carbide and fused aluminium oxide.
