TGI3 at the Geological Survey of Canada: training opportunities for students

CIM Vancouver 2006
Abstract The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) has a long history of training and mentoring undergraduate and graduate Earth Science students, commonly through seasonal or part-time employment in its geoscience programs. TGI3 is the renewal of the Targeted Geoscience Initiative, funded at $25M for 5 years (2005-2010), with an emphasis on geoscience to help sustain the reserves of base metals in vulnerable established mining communities in Canada. As part of that mandate, TGI3 will place significant emphasis on the training of students to enable them to acquire the broad range of skills needed by an expanding exploration sector.
