MetSoc celebrates women of impact

Woman of Impact headshotCIM’s Metallurgy and Materials Society (MetSoc) is proud to present the “Women of Impact” symposium on Aug. 26, 2015, at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. This event, held as part of Conference of Metallurgists 2015 (COM), will celebrate leading women in materials, metallurgy and mining in Canada – from industry and academia, including metallurgist, author and educator Ursula Franklin. Women constitute 50 per cent of the population but are under-represented in science and engineering. In conjunction with the symposium, a commemorative book will be launched featuring 18 women scientists and engineers – pioneers in their own right who successfully broke down barriers and paved the way for younger female scientists and engineers to join an industry that hungers for greater diversity.

Information regarding the event’s speakers and costs are available on the symposium’s website. The general public is welcomed to register for the event. For more information, contact Nathan Stubina or Mary Wells.
