In recognition of leadership and practical engineering over more than fifty years, during which he brought six mines into production and with his son, established a successful mine contracting company.
Born in Red Deer, Alberta, Ted Graham graduated from Queens University as a mine engineer in 1938. He worked in many operations as an engineer, shift boss, mine superintendent and mine manager, and in many regions of the country, before rising to become Vice President, Operations and General Manager of Brinex Ltd. Among his accomplishments are bringing six mines into production, including the first Sherritt Gordon mine in Lynn Lake. In 1972 he established E. P. Graham Mining Consultants, and in 1975, in partnership with his son Peter, he established Graham Mining which has become a highly successful contracting company. In 1993 he was awarded the status of Honorary Life Member of the Ontario Mine Contractors Safety Association for his many years of contribution to the association and to safety. He has been a member of CIM since 1950, and a Life Member since 1983. He was Chairman of the Western Quebec Branch, District 1 Vice President, and a member of the Finance Committee. Mr. Grahams wife received the Sancta Barbara Medal in 1991.
