Francis P. YungwirthTimmins, ON
In recognition of his community efforts and constant support of the mining industry.
F.P. (Fran) Yungwirth is a mining engineer and lawyer operating as a sole practitioner in Timmins, Ontario. He has practiced both professions in the mining and exploration sector for 33 years.
Yungwirth received his engineering and law degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. He worked at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting in Flin Flon as a mining engineer, assistant mine superintendent, mine superintendent and chief engineer of mines, as well as being part of the development group evaluating mineral properties for the Anglo group of companies for 12 years. Thereafter, he relocated to Timmins and served as vice president and CEO of several junior mining exploration companies before opening his consulting and law practice focusing on entry-level mining exploration projects.
Yungwirth was involved in implementing Ontario’s Professional Geoscientists Act and offers preparatory classes for candidates prior to writing the professional practice and ethics exam of the APGO. He served on the CIM Metal Mining Society Executive for over 20 years, mainly on the CIM Bulletin Committee. He has given lectures on the practical application of flow through shares, and currently serves on an ad hoc committee on the revision of Ontario’s Mining Act.
