Ottawa, ON

"In recognition of his long and meritorious service to CIM, its membership, and the development of research for the benefit of the Canadian mining industry."

John Eaman Udd, a mining engineer, received his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees from McGill University, and subsequently became Director of the Mining Engineering Program and founding Director of the University's Office of Colleges and Schools Liaison. He then joined Falconbridge Nickel Mines, before being appointed Director of the Mining Research Laboratories of the federal government (1984-1996). He is presently Principal Scientist Mining.

Dr. Udd has written extensively and is the author or co-author of over 100 technical papers which have been published around the world.
