Win Fraser graduated from Queen’s University with a B.Sc. in Geological Engineering in 1973. In his technical career he has been a project engineer with EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. in Edmonton, AB (geotechnical and environmental consultants), mine geologist for Cardinal River Coals near Hinton, AB, coal exploration geologist with Suncor for the Pictou Coal Project in Nova Scotia and senior geological engineer at Suncor’s Oil Sands Mine near Fort McMurray, AB. Since 1993 he has been a search and placement consultant with Resource Professionals Inc., a technical / professional staffing consulting practice in Calgary, AB, where he recruits for technical and executive personnel for the oil and gas, mining and related supply and service sectors.

Fraser has been an active volunteer since his university student days, in his community, and with CIM. He has served on CIM Branch executive committees in a variety of roles in the communities where has lived. From 1999 to 2001 he was Vice President District 5. For many years he was a member of the Mining Society of Nova Scotia. He has been on a number of CIM conference organizing committees including the 1999 AGM in Calgary. For many years he has also been active in Queen’s University Alumni Association.

Fraser is a Professional Engineer in Alberta, a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP), and a Fellow of CIM. He was awarded the CIM District 5 Distinguished Service Award in 1991, and the Herbert Hamilton Award “for exceptional service to the Queen’s University Alumni Association” in 2004.
