EXPLORATION - presented by PDAC

Picture a full-size exploration tent filled with everything you need — tools, maps, beds, living items and more — to make that next big discovery. At this pavilion, you will be introduced to modern mineral exploration, prospecting and claim-staking techniques that can make new discoveries a reality.

MINING - presented by Suncor Energy

Imagine operating a mining vehicle on a real simulator! Mine development, mineral extraction and different types of mines will be explored at this pavilion, including demonstrations of open pit versus underground mines, oil sands, hard and soft rock, aggregates, coal, etc. Learn about the process the mineral takes — from leaving the ground to going to the mill, to storage and transportation to the right location.

Mining in Society
PROCESSING - presented by Goldcorp

Discover how electrical currents, magnets and bubbles help with mineral separation by running a froth flotation device or performing particle separation. The differences between how minerals, metals, oil, diamonds and gems are processed will revealed.

SUSTAINABILITY - presented by BHP Billiton

Understand how mining supports sustainability, from green technologies to community developments. Explore a hybrid car, a vegetable oil-powered truck and other green technologies. Discover how mining and communities are dependent on each other. Here, you can understand how the mining industry works with local communities to their mutual benefit, and how mine sites can be reclaimed and enhanced for future uses, such as air strips, race car tracks, art exhibits, hi-tech scientific research facilities, underground homes, resorts, lakes, and much more.

Mining in Society
PRODUCTS & FABRICATION

Discover how mined minerals are used every day as you walk through a full-scale model home. From toothpaste to computers and bicycles to fine art, products that we use in our day-to-day lives and that depend on mining for their creation will be on display. See photos of emergency rooms where equipment saves lives; look at vitamins that keep our bodies strong; and discover how each metal can be recycled and reused. The list of mined elements we utilize is endless and our lives are supported and sustained because of minerals and the products that contain them.

EDUCATION - presented by MiHR

This pavilion will display the various programs offered by universities, trade schools, high schools and on-line providers, as well as real-life demonstrations of available career opportunities, highlighting the diversity of education requirements. Learn about your educational opportunities as you interact with representatives at different information portals.

SAFETY

Perform safety tasks with a mine rescue team! Learn how to tie a rope, try on safety gear, and discover how safe the mining industry is. You will leave with a new knowledge about safety and of how to help others. This interactive pavilion will display historical and state-of-the-art rescue equipment that is used at the mine and in local communities.

PHOTO

Visualize yourself in mine safety gear or in an operational digger. The Sony Photo Pavilion will provide a photo to each family and class to keep as a reminder of the fantastic day they had. They will also display gadgets and electronics showing how mined minerals make them run
