Mineral Agreements and Royalties by Karl Harries

    Special Volume 55

This two-volume set is a compilation and update of the author's previous three books: Mining Exploration Agreements (1994), Mining Royalties Between Private Parties (1996), and Entry and Work on Private Property (1997). The books are not legal texts but rather generic guides that are intended to assist anyone involved directly or indirectly in the mineral exploration industry. They are written in an informal manner and cover a wide variety of subjects that one may encounter in either exploration or the negotiation of property acquisition agreements. They examine the subjects from the point-of-view of both the explorationist and property owner.

Industrial Minerals in Canada

    Special Volume 53

This volume largely contains papers and abstracts presented during the "Focus on Industrial Minerals" meeting held in Vancouver in 1998 at the Sheraton Wall Centre. The meeting was organized by a consortium of the Industrial Minerals Division of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, the British Columbia Geological Survey, the Centre for Earth and Ocean Research at the University of Victoria and British Columbia Trade and Investment, and was co-sponsored by the Northern Miner. The core of the book consists of a number of papers and abstracts covering Canadian industrial minerals from coast to coast, province by province. The papers presented during the meeting have been supplemented by a large number of contributions covering the geology of specific deposits, and describing industrial mineral projects and development opportunities across Canada. Where final papers were not received, extended abstracts are published instead.

Guide to the Evaluation of Gold Deposits

    Special Volume 45

To improve the profitability of investments in mineral development, increased efficiency in evaluation practices and in the definition of mineral inventories and reserves is necessary. This objective requires that both the margin of error of the estimates, and the risks of financial loss that are related to investment decisions be reduced. The Guide is directed to professionals and managers who are directly involved in the evaluation of the geological, engineering, and economic aspects of gold deposits. By extension, it will assist in orienting the evaluation work of financial organizations, regulatory agencies, and government organizations that are directly involved with the evaluation of resources or in mining development.

    Students: $20.00
    Non-Members: $40.00

The Northwestern Quebec Polymetallic Belt

    Special Volume 43

This volume contains the texts of the presentations given at the Symposium on The Northwestern Quebec Polymetallic Belt: a synthesis of 60 years of Mining Exploration, which was held in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, May 28 - June 1, 1990. With this volume, the Symposium proposes geological and metallogenic syntheses at the regional scale, and the mining camp syntheses illustrated by original descriptions of recently studied ore deposits. This volume should constitute a lasting reference for all those who are interested in the exceptional mining potential of the Abitibi.

Operation and Maintenance in Mineral Processing Plants

    Special Volume 40

Operation and Maintenance in Mineral Processing Plants is intended to serve as an introduction to the basic means and objectives of practical plant operation for university/college students and those entering the field of mineral processing, and also to broaden the horizons of plant operators. Written by operators and maintenance personnel, experts in their fields, the method of presentation is meant to inform students or inexperienced operators how to operate a plant or circuit, troubleshoot, and points out improtant maintenance concerns.

Granite-Related Mineral Deposits

    Special Volume 39

As a corollary of the CIM Conference on Granite-related Mineral Deposits that took place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, September 15-17, 1985, this volume highlights recent advances in the genesis of granite-hosted mineral deposits by compiling the work of a diverse group of economic geologists, petrologists and volcanologists. The papers included focus on the interrelationships of felsic plutonic and volcanic environments, crystallization mechanisms, volatile complexing, and the origin, concentration, and precipitation of granophile metals such as Sn, W, Mo, Ta and REE.

Coal in Canada

    Special Volume 31

This volume contains 50 separate contributions, prepared by authors of professional standing who have first-hand knowledge of their topics. It constitutes a reference work on Canadian coal deposits and coal mining for new engineers in the coal industry, for senior students and for people from other countries who are interested in Canadian coal production. It contains descriptions of all current producing mines in Canada, and includes papers reviewing conditions and methods in districts where mines are not longer active since similar conditions will have to be faced if work there should be resumed at some future time. Coal preparation and transportation are described, and also safety and market trends.

Geochemistry of Gold Deposits in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt

    Special Volume 27

Descriptive studies of Archean lode gold deposits abound, but quantitative geochemistry information has generally been lacking. This volume synthesizes recent geochemical data on the deposits and the host rocks, with reference to major mines, principally in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. Patterns of alteration, hydrothermal fluid chemistry and evidence form stable isotopes, and REE, redox and fluid inclusions. A critical evaluation of hypotheses for the origin of such deposits is presented in the light of the geochemical data.

    Price: $10.00

Geology of Canadian Gold Deposits

    Special Volume 24

This volume contains most of the papers presented at the CIM Gold Symposium held in Val d'Or, Quebec, in September 1980. The objective of the symposium was the presentation of current descriptions of the deposits with thoughts on their genesis, and techniques used in exploration for gold. It is the intent of this volume, first published in 1982, and reprinted in 1985 and 1988, to fill the gap in the literature on Canadian gold deposits that has existed since the publication of the CIM Jubilee and Congress Volumes, in 1948 and 1957, respectively.
