CIM welcomed a new Vice-President International during its Mining Industry Conference and Exhibition, Montreal 2003, the 105th CIM Annual General Meeting that took place early this May.
Rob Barber has accepted his two-year mandate with great plans to advance CIM's international presence around the globe. For a write-up about Rob we invite you to view the CIM Bulletin, May 2003 edition.
The Los Andes Branch, CIM’s first overseas Branch will maintain close ties with the V-P International who will represent them on Council.
An International Advisory Liaison Group, made up of representatives of the societies and divisions, will assist Rob in his endeavours.
The V-P International will be keeping abreast of developments in the move to develop an international definition and guideline standard for the reporting of resource and reserve definitions. He represents the interests of international members of CIM and their needs from the Institute. He also works on the increasing number of initiatives to form alliances between CIM and related groups in other countries and to form other international Branches.
