Sommaire: The second vertical derivative method of processing aero-magnetic data from low level helicopter surveys yields results correctable with the known geology and may be utilized to indicate possible targets for future exploration in the Silver Queen and Equity Silver mines areas, near Houston in central British Columbia. The principal zones of alteration associated with mineralization, known from detailed mapping, are further delineated and extended in a way not possible by a cursory examination...

Sommaire: Since the late 1800s, the Grenville Province in Quebec has been an important and diversified source of industrial minerals. The Ministere de l'Énergie et des Ressources du Quebec, under the Canada-Quebec Mineral Development Agreement, and the private sector have put an emphasis on exploration, mapping and evaluation programs in the Grenville Province for minerals, particularly since 1983. These programs have led to the discovery and the development of deposits such as architectural...

Sommaire: Several occurrences of disseminated galena, including a former producing mine, are found in Pennsylvanian fluviatile sandstone of the Salmon River Basin, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Detailed study of the distribution of these occurrences has revealed that highest galena concentrations are found in sandstone overlying channel-shaped depressions infelsic basement rocks. These buried depressions, in turn, correlate in position with modern streams in areas of basement exposure. This...

Sommaire: Quebec's portion of the Grenville geological province holds over 100 known wollastonite showings and deposits. Exceptionally favourable sectors for wollastonite exploration are located between the municipality of Grenville and Mont-Tremblant Park (north of St-Jovite). Other promising sectors are located in the Lac-Saint-Jean, Shawinigan and Gatineau areas. Deposits may be classified into nine categories depending on their relationship to intrusive rocks, discordant or concordant contacts with...

Sommaire: Several types of stratiform and epigenetic gold deposits have been found in New Brunswick. It is the purpose of this paper to describe and classify the epigenetic deposits and demonstrate their relationship to tectonic evolution. The stratiform deposits are mostly volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits that are described elsewhere (Davies et al., 1985).
The auriferous epigenetic deposits include quartz-carbonate veins and stockworks, polymetallic veins, contact metasomatic, porphyry copper...

Sommaire: The phosphate deposit, located in the Abu Tartur plateau between the Kharga and the Dakhla Oases in the southern part of the Western Desert of Egypt, is the largest of its kind in the country. The phosphates are found in two horizons referred to as the Lower and Upper Phosphate Horizons within the Late Campanian Sibaiya Formation which belongs to the Nubia Group.
This paper presents the results of a geostatistical study on the main phosphorite bed at the base of the Lower Phosphate Horizon...
