Sommaire: In October 1982, RioAlgom Limited, purchased a tin prospect near East Kemptville, Nova Scotia, from Shell Canada Resources. This purchase led to the development of the first substantial tin mine in North America. This paper deals with the drilling and blasting operations at Rio Algom, in particular the use of emulsion explosives technology. This presentation describes what emulsion explosives and Heavy AN/FO are, and the support system used to deliver these products to the blast site.

Sommaire: Zinc-iron alloy coatings can be produced by either thermally alloying hot-dipped galvanized steel or by electrodeposition. Stelco Inc. produces a thermally alloyed Zn-Fe alloy-coated steel, which is mechanically wiped to remove free zinc.
A more extensive use of Zn-Fe alloy-coated steel has been predicted for unexposed autobody and structural part applications, since this material is characterized by good spot weldability and formability, and provides superior corrosion resistance under...

Sommaire: Exploration results over three overburden drilling anomalies defined by the Ontario Geological Survey in 1981 in the Kirkland Lake area, Ontario are presented. The anomalies come from lowland areas where overburden is thickest. By mapping the bedrock and surficial geology, by prospecting, humus sampling and shallow till sampling over the surrounding upland surfaces, one can initially evaluate such overburden drill anomalies without costly reverse circulation drilling. The drilling should...
