Sommaire: Till geochemistry was the principal exploration tool employed by Selco in the investigation of a zinc prospect in Lanark Township, Ontario. The geochemical studies were undertaken after the discovery at surface of marble boulders containing bands of sphalerite and lesser amounts of galena.
The source of these mineralized boulders was sought by means of B-horizon soil geochemistry, followed, where appropriate, by back-hoe trenching and till sampling. The thickness of the till in this part of...

Sommaire: One approach to stabilization of rock slopes is to place a buttress at the toe of the slope to provide addtional resisting forces and increase the length and strength properties along the failure surface. This paper describes the rock mechanics and mine planning aspects of incorporating a buttress of intact rock in the lower part of the slope as part of the slope design for the south wall of the final pit at Cassiar Mine. "Stability analysis techniques and results are described. Analyses...

Sommaire: A shallow till sampling program was completed on a 1 km grid over the St. George Batholith in southern New Brunswick. The "B" soil horizon was analyzed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, Co, Mo, U and Sb and the heavy minerals from the "C" soil horizon were ing the anomalous metal contents of overburden to their bedrock source. He is presently studying the metallogeny of an area in New Brunswick mapping the alteration halos around a porphyry copper system and determining the relationship...
