Creating Value through long term Aboriginal Partnerships

Throughout the country, resource companies and aboriginal communities are forming new and exciting relationships. This is nothing new to northern Saskatchewan, where for the past 25 years, Cameco and the northern First Nations and Metis communities have worked in partnership that has created a shared value between both parties. This model of engagement has been researched, and copied by other regions, and companies throughout Canada and the world, and continues to evolve in northern Saskatchewan.
This presentation will examine the value that has been created by the proactive approach to aboriginal engagement surrounding Cameco’s uranium mines and mills. It will highlights specific examples that has allowed Cameco to become Canada’s largest industrial employer of Aboriginal people, and allowed Cameco to expand worldwide to other regions of the world where Uranium exploration and Aboriginal people are linked together.
