CIM MES Vancouver is pleased to present: Mauro Chiesa, MBA Independent advisor who will deliver a presentation on The Joint Venture and Mining: A Fragile Marriage Metal prices are strong, yet there is a dearth of new projects and an absence of risk-capital.  The developer who has an asset developed but cannot find the capital to develop or the buyer to purchase the asset, looks to the joint-venture, a strategy that can offer the best of both worlds to each party, as each has respective strengths and needs. There are two new categories of j/v this time around: the public sector and the vertical off-taker. This discussion includes a review of the market, some example transactions and an overview on how to prepare for, and approach, such a market.  Ample discussion will follow.   Biography: A seasoned professional with 32 years of financing experience in Ottawa, NYC, Washington, DC and Vancouver, active in procuring, arranging and structuring project-related financing in the energy generation, resource extraction and transport infrastructure sectors. Experience with financial instruments includes project-risk and corporate-risk debt and equity financing, strategic debt and equity financings and publicly traded bond financing; several years were spent exclusively with joint-venture financings, where no two deals were alike. Mr. Chiesa possesses two degrees from UBC and is tri-lingual.
