Computer modelling limitations and new directions — Part 1

Abstract The objective of Part 1 of this paper is to identify the limitations of the traditional modelling methods and to illustrate, by example, the potential for error created by their application to complex deposits and mining situations. Part 2 describes the evolution of new, proven technology which eliminates these deficiencies and provides precise and practical alternatives. These promote the use of realistic geological and mining shapes and eliminate altogether the rectangular approximations of traditional methods.
