Abstract This paper describes mining conditions in the Kaiser surface and underground coal mines in the Spar-wood area of southeastern British Columbia. Mining methods are explained, major mining equipment is listed and production rates are given. Reclamation methods and results are described. Data are given on safety organization, safety practices, accident statistics, safety inspections and absenteeism.
