Research and Development in Industry
Dr. O. M. Solandt, former director of the Defence Research Board and now vice-president of de Havilland Aircraft of Canada Ltd., was guest speaker at the Banquet Dinner of the Third Annual Conference of Metallurgists. In an extremely interesting address before an attentive audience, Dr. Solandt stressed the need for more industrial research in Canada, outlining the kind of research required and how it should be applied. He then commented on Canada's present and future role in world affairs, and how industry, and the metallurgical industry in particular, could assure this future through well planned programs of research.
